Be sure to attend the Nights of a Thousand Candles celebration at Brookgreen Gardens, one of the area’s most beloved holiday gatherings. Brookgreen Gardens is already an immaculate place to visit during the day, but during the Christmas season the gardens are bathed in the glow of thousands of hand-lit candles illuminating the exhibits and sculptures around the area. Guests can stroll through the gorgeous displays while sipping hot cocoa and listening to the sounds of carolers and bellringers. This is truly one of the best ways to get you and your friends and family into the holiday spirit! The festival takes place from 4 PM to 9 PM on Thursday through Sunday from November 26th through January 2nd. Advance tickets are recommended and are available for purchase through the Brookgreen Gardens website.
7th Annual Santa Crawl at the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk
For one of the biggest Santa-centric celebrations along the Carolina coast, head to the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk on Saturday, December 11th for their 7th annual Santa Crawl. The festivities kick off at 5 PM, with area restaurants like Wahoo’s, Hot Fish Club and Drunken Jack’s serving up tempting dinner specials and a variety of holiday-themed cocktails. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their best Santa-themed attire, but elves, snowmen and even Grinches are also welcome at the event! Secret Santas will be roaming the Marshwalk taking notes on the best-dressed participants and the most festive will win big at the prize ceremony at 9:30 PM.
Festival of Trees at the Hammock Shops Village
The Hammock Shops Village is home to numerous unique shops and boutiques, and from November 22nd to December 5th they will be hosting their annual Festival of Trees celebration. All throughout the area, beautiful tabletop trees will be displayed and available to bid on during an auction lasting the two weeks of the festival. The fun culminates with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on December 5th at 6 PM, complete with train rides for little ones and appearances by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus!
